80 years of early mornings: What World Milk Day means to us

80 years of early mornings: What World Milk Day means to us

Every week, we deliver thousands of milk bottles to doorsteps across the North West. Families across the country rely on having a pint or two stocked in the fridge, reaching for a bottle of milk to add creaminess and nutrition to brews, bakes and breakfasts. Take a step back, and it’s a routine you’ll see all over the world, whether people get their milk from the supermarket or fresh from the farm.

World Milk Day (1st June) recognises the importance of milk in our daily lives – and at Creamline we’re really proud to be part of this worldwide tradition.

Celebrating local dairy farmers around the world

World Milk Day was created in 2001 to celebrate dairy producers, and farming communities around the world, and to recognise the role milk plays in everyday life. This year, there’s a special focus on female farmers - a recognition of the women who are often at the heart of the businesses that feed us.

Every pint of Creamline milk comes from farms within 30 miles of our dairy, like Reynolds Farm, which is proudly run by Joy Wright and her husband Andrew. Her daughter Annabel is already flying the flag for female farmers, lending a helping hand on the farm – especially with the baby calves! - keeping that family tradition alive for another generation.

From humble beginnings

Milk is at the heart of daily routines all around the world, but our story starts in Manchester. Peter Roe founded Creamline Dairies back in 1945, supplying businesses in Trafford and Worsley with their daily milk.

Since then, we’ve taken on rounds all across the North West, going south to Stockport, and heading west through Cheshire, Warrington and Wirral. And we deliver more than just milk! We’ve carried that local feel over to our produce and fresh food, all sourced from independent suppliers in our communities.

Be part of our history

If you’re already a Creamline customer, thank you for being part of the story. If you're not yet on our rounds, it’s easy to find out when we can deliver to you. Just enter your postcode to get started! Everyone who signs up with us will be told the name of the local roundsperson doing their deliveries – it's just one of the small ways we keep that community connection alive, stretching all the way back to 1945.
