Creamline’s roundup of the best Platinum Jubilee events happening across Manchester!

Creamline’s roundup of the best Platinum Jubilee events happening across Manchester!

From street parties and 1950s-themed picnics to the glorious Manchester Flower Show – and even a corgi-themed event in Altrincham - Manchester’s pulling out all the stops for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. In celebration of the Queen’s 70 years of service, we’ve rounded up our best picks of Jubilee events happening across Manchester, so read on to discover the best that Manchester has to offer!

Troop the Corgis in Altrincham

One of the most whimsical Jubilee events will be taking place in Altrincham: Trooping the Corgis!  Throughout June, 50 life-sized corgi sculptures will be exhibited in shops and businesses around Altrincham for you to seek out.

Altrincham BID and local arts charity, Inch Arts, who kickstarted the event have specially picked out talented artists to create 25 of the corgis, while getting the local community involved for the remaining 25. Jo Cushing, CEO of Inch Arts told Altrincham today, “A further 25 will be decorated by Altrincham’s valuable community groups and wonderful local schools, working alongside an artist, to inspire creativity and inclusivity in our amazing town.” We can’t wait to start seeing corgis around town!

Take in the colour at the Manchester Flower Show

This year’s Manchester Flower Show combines the very best of floral talent across the city with Platinum Jubilee festivities (think bountiful displays of red, white, and blue flowers). Winding across the streets of Manchester City Centre, the Flower Show is completely free - and extremely photogenic! Read on and keep your eyes peeled for our favourite professionally designed flower displays…

Arguably one of the finest flower displays is the Queen Bee, contained within the main festival zone at the Manchester Arndale. This incredible floral creation has been made by upcycling one of Wild in Art’s giant worker bee sculptures that were dotted about the city in July-September of 2018! Paying homage to 70 years of service, the flower crown designed by Northern Quarter florist, FROG Flowers, is the icing on the cake of this Jubilee-inspired bee.

If you step out of the main festival zone, you’ll stumble upon many fringe displays of equally glorious beauty. One of our top fringe picks is the gorgeous sunflower meadow display located at the NOMA estate as part of their plant project. Feast your eyes upon an eye-popping embankment full of thousands of sunflowers and embrace the start-of-summer vibes.

Venture down to Symphony Park for a historical sight frozen in time! Here you’ll find an old Big Red Bus decorated with a fantastic floral display by I Want Plants in celebration of the Queen’s 70 years of service.

Street parties galore!

Over the long Bank Holiday, we expect to see many bunting-lined street parties, BBQs and picnics taking place. Whether you’re involved with hosting a party or an attendee, this is a foodie occasion for the ages! One of our top picks is the 1950’s-themed picnic that’s going down at Clarence Park on Walmersley Road in Bury on 5th June. At this Jubilee bash, organised by the Friends of Clarence Park group, you’re encouraged to dress up in 50’s style or even Royal regalia, and there will be plenty of live music, entertainment, and refreshments – plus the chance to pack your own picnic lunch of British goodies.

So why not impress your fellow Jubilee party-goers with our locally-sourced Summer Cream Tea special offer? Kick off celebrations with Thatcher’s lovingly baked sultana scones and dollop on hearty servings of Mrs Darlington’s strawberry jam and Cheshire’s Clotton Hall Dairy clotted cream. That’s what we call a Queen’t-essentially British treat!

On the savoury side of festivities, we’ve got you covered with our six-person selection of family favourite meats. Prime for sizzling and searing, this bundle includes premium-quality beef burgers, pork sausages, lamb & mint kebabs and BBQ chicken wings. Rest assured that you’ll be wowing with only the best of British - our cuts are all sourced from Didsbury’s Little Pigs who work with a small network of local farms that rear only grass-fed, free-range animals.

Take a moment of relaxation and indulge in elegant afternoon tea

Take a break from the frenzy of Jubilee celebrations to enjoy some peace with Creamline’s Afternoon Tea for Four special bundle. This bundle includes everything you need for an afternoon of elegance: four fruit tea cakes, four chocolate chip muffins from Thatcher’s bakery, Worker Bee Everyday Breakfast tea and a jar of Mrs Darlington’s strawberry jam!
