Beating the Heat with Creamline
Open the windows, whip out the picnic baskets and get your shorts on – summer has well and truly arrived! We’ve got everything you need to stay cool and refreshed on those sunny days. From zesty juices to homemade ice pops and light, breezy salads, we’ve got your back (we can’t help with putting on your sunscreen, though…).
Refreshing juices
Nothing hits the spot on a summer’s morning quite like a chilled glass of orange juice -it’s sunshine in a bottle, minus the sunburn. If you fancy straying away from the classics, we’ve got a whole range of glass-bottled juices ready for your fridge door - think tangy apple, punchy cranberry, zingy grapefruit, or even fruit cocktail if you can’t make your mind up. Try combining a few juices with lemonade, a splash of soda water, and freshly sliced fruit for a delicious instant fruit punch! Perfect for lazy garden parties or your next BBQ.
Homemade fruit ice pops
If you’re looking for a way to keep the little ones busy this summer, then these homemade fruit ice pops make a great family activity and are a whole lot healthier than your average ice lolly. To start, just pop (no pun intended) 200g of your favourite fruit (we like strawberries, blueberries, and watermelon) into a blender. Then, add 120ml of juice and a squeeze of half a lemon. Blend until smooth, pour into lolly moulds, stick in your lolly sticks, and whack them in the freezer for 4–6 hours. Voila! Delicious, healthy, refreshing treats. If you’ve got an ice box handy, why not take them along with you? For those in and around Wirral, New Brighton is the perfect spot for a beach day. It’s not too far from Manchester too!
Light summer salads
When it’s sunny, the last thing anyone wants is to be stuck cooking indoors for hours on end. These fresh and flavourful summer salads are no sweat to make (literally). Try combining our tomatoes, cucumber and red onion with feta cheese, olive oil, and lemon juice for a Greek salad.
Got leftover pasta knocking about? Make the perfect pasta salad by mixing around 300g of cooked pasta with diced red pepper, red onion, cucumber, and a handful of fresh herbs like basil or parsley. Finish with olive oil, a squeeze of lemon, and a good hit of salt and pepper. It’s the ideal lazy lunch or BBQ side. If you’re in Manchester this summer, take your salad boxes alfresco and enjoy a picnic in Fletcher Moss Gardens or chill out by the lake at Chorlton Water Park. It’s the perfect summer afternoon!
