Our top tips for staying warm in the winter
Put away the pumpkins because we’ve well and truly moved past autumn and into proper winter weather. Here are some of our favourite ways to stay warm and cosy over the colder months.
1. Fluffy socks and slippers
Staying warm is all about heating you rather than the whole house. A pair of thermal socks or thick slippers (with or without bunny ears) keeps your feet toasty and comfy at the same time.
2. Enjoy a hot drink
Nothing feels better on a cold or rainy day than a cup of tea. So, it’s time to pop the kettle on and grab your favourite mug out of the cupboard. However you take your tea, no sugar or a classic Builder’s, we don’t judge. Well, unless you put the milk in first...
Find your new go-to brew in Worker Bee’s artisan range of teas, ground coffee and infusions. They’ve crafted balanced blends of Earl Grey, Arabica coffee and even a luxury hot chocolate, all available to order through Creamline.
3. Stretch and exercise
When you don’t fancy braving the cold to get to the gym, it’s easy to get a good workout in at home. Look up some dynamic stretches to do, or search for a follow-along video tutorial for a no-equipment home workout. After a few minutes, you’ll feel warmer and have ticked off some exercise for the day!
4. Warm up by the fire
If you’ve got an old fireplace or woodburner stove that you’ve been meaning to try for years, this is your sign to give it a go!
Hardwood or softwood logs both work well, they just behave slightly differently. Hardwood tends to burn for longer, while softwood is best for getting a fire started because will catch quicker.
In our home and garden range, you can order locally sourced hardwood and softwood logs that will be delivered as part of your standard Creamline shop.
5. Hearty stews and soups
Last but not least, we love a warming bowl of soup or stew on a winter day. Creamy, spicy, or packed with seasonal veg, every soup tastes best with a good chunk of crusty bread.
Try out our recipe for a tomato soup with hidden veggies for a quick tea all the family will love, best served with a loaf of freshly baked bread from our Best of Local bakery.
Although it is cold outside and the days are getting darker, we hope these tips help to make your winter just a little cosier.
