The best winter walks around the North West

One of the best ways to embrace this time of year is to wrap up warm and head out on a wintery walk.

Our milk delivery service covers most of the North West, from Manchester and Stockport to Wirral and Cheshire, so no matter where in our community you live, there’ll be a winter walk near you.

Heaton Park, Manchester

Heaton Park is the largest public park in Europe, with plenty to see and do.

Manchester City Council have put together a three mile sightseeing route around the park. You’ll stroll pass the Grade I listed Heaton Hall, the Boating Lake, Dower House and more. And don’t forget to keep an eye out for the Highland cows!

The standard route, without the Hazlitt Wood section, is also wheelchair accessible, so the entire family can enjoy the park.

The Sandstone Trail, Cheshire

The Sansdstone Trail is one of the most popular walking routes in the North West, covering over 30 miles of beautiful Cheshire countryside. You can join the route at any point from Whitchurch to Frodsham, and walk as much or little of it as you like.

Enjoy the stunning views and pop into one of the cosy country pubs along the way to warm up.

Dunham Massey Park loop

Head down to Altrincham to explore the Georgian grandeur and 3000-acre deer park at Dunham Massey. You can walk the National Trust’s mini loop, or if you’re up for challenge try the full 17km Dunham Massey Circular which runs past the Lymm Dam and Bridgewater Canal.

Parkgate loop, Wirral

This dog-friendly circular route around Parkgate is a flat, relatively easy walk heading down a former railway line. It starts along Parkgate Parade then follows Wirral Way trail for a roughly 3-mile route in total

Fairy Glen, Lancashire

Fairy Glen near Wigan is a stunning forest area, easily accessible by the Leeds and Liverpool canal paths. You can take the four-mile walking route starting from Parbold Hill and winding up to the picturesque village of Appley Bridge. The paths can get muddy if it’s been raining, so do bring your walking boots for this one.

If you need something to keep you going on all these walks, we’ve got you covered. Fill up a flask with artisan Worker Bee tea, or grab one of our deliciously oaty flapjacks from Thatchers Bakery.

Whether you’re out on the trails this winter, or staying cosy by the fire, we can deliver all your essentials and seasonal favourites so you can spend more time on the important stuff.
